Sooooooo cooolllldddd

OK, so we did hill training tonight, we started at the bottom of the hill at Queen Elizabeth going up to the restaurant. (started at Running Room at Cambie Street). Goal was to run as many hills as we could in 30 minutes. Probably after 20 minutes my hands lost feeling, after the 30 minutes I'm pretty sure they were frozen! I am still freezing and am possibly colder then I was after the Tough Mudder! Yes, that cold. I was actually warmer snow-shoeing at Cypress Mountain this past weekend.

It was interesting doing the hills. I did almost 4 hills and will probably go back on my own to do it. I know, I'm not very sane in the membrane.

Also, watching the rest of the Canucks game, I'm pretty sure they've turned into the Leafs, they're currently losing...really? WTF Canucks!! They're playing Coyotes! They shouldn't be losing.

So the Canucks did come back....

and then lost in a shootout, I've lost my voice by yelling at the TV and my cat has gone into hiding somewhere. Three games in a row lots though. Someone needs to destroy the Shithawks! Although, the Habs are in first place right now in the East???? Whaaaaaaaaa? FUCKING AMAZING!

I also really fucking hate that Blackhawks goal music....fucking song will be stuck in my head (yes, I'm swearing a lot, I just watched 2 periods, OT and a shootout in hockey, deal with it!)

Son of a bitch....

Yah, I'm watching the Canucks game vs. Shithawks while I write this, I'm not happy because its the end of 2nd and Canucks are down 3-1, booooo.

Update on running, some runs are fantastic, some are horrible. Sunday's was pretty horrible. I came home and sulked on the couch for a couple hours, then thought, screw it, got up and did my errands. We did 23kms on Sunday and it was fine up until the final 5kms and then every single injury I've ever had on my entire body started to flare up. I still managed to dig deep and get a 7.49km pace (the previous couple of weeks were about 7.01-7.29) so I was pretty happy. I limped into the Running Room, sulked, biked home, sulked some more. Ha ha. I was fine the next day when I PBed in the pool. See, that's the good thing about doing triathlons, you'll have a horrible day in one sport and then PB the next day in another. Now, if I can just catch up with my running!

I did a brick tonight with my hill training, kind of interesting. Worked! I didn't have to do a warm up (already warm) so just started running some hills in my 'hood! I did them a little bit shorter then what my clinic instructor said to but in my defense, well, no defense, they were hard hills! I'll do that again actually, next time I'll do the hills and then add a 7km run at the end.

OK, Canucks back on, must go watch the mayhem that has been this game so far!

Something was missing this morning and the bucket list gets bigger

There was something missing this morning when I got out bed, my creaking knees! I`m not going to lie, my body is a little tired from the 20kms run yesterday but not anywhere near as sore as it was last year. Strength training, its an amazing thing!

My bucket list got a little bigger as well. I`ve decided I`m going to try rowing and parkour next year. I`ve been wanting to try Parkour for years. No, not this year, this year I have the marathon, Ironman and the GranFondo to get through, I think that's enough for now!

Song of the day.....

http://youtu.be/1-F1h9iIdlk

Oldie but a goodie! club anthem from about 13 years ago and its still a fav! Love the lyrics.

It takes a village....

I`m 5 weeks into my BMO marathon training with the Running Room and today is the first day I really feel like I can do a sub-five hour marathon. by sub-five I mean 4.59.59! I`ll take it! We ran 20 kms (19.69 according to my watch, 21kms according to my friend Selina`s watch) and with a pace of 7.09. WOW! Seriously..that fast..amazing! If I can do that exact pace for the full marathon I can do it in 4 hours 55 minutes! Today included a few ass-burning hills (up and down!) from the Running Room on Cambie, to Prospect Point and back. Great run! We even saw (and I might have accidentally scared it away) a gorgeous owl just sitting in a tree watching all the runs pass by.

I`m even getting used to the gels. Today was the first day I didn`t bonk at the 18km marker. I felt good afterwards (hungry, but good) and still feel good. I`m a little tired but don`t feel like I did a 20km medium to hard run and yesterday did a 20km medium difficulty bike ride on the North Shore (lots of hills as well with that one!). Both of these I took off time, the ride I took of 12 minutes from the last time in November and the running I`m about 20 to 25 minutes faster than last year. It just makes the last two weeks of misery (bad two training weeks) feel ok and I`m feeling much stronger about doing the marathon in May as well as the IronMan in August.

I`ve decided that my new mantra is It Takes a Village.... because I`m lucky that I have so many active, fun, inclusive people in my life that it was pretty easy for me to come to the conclusion that I can`t do the training on my own for either event. Why not pick the brains of other people or train with other people that are better than me. It`s only going to improve my times, endurance, and will to succeed! Its going to take a village to raise me to be an Ironman contender and I no longer feel shame in that. I`m indeed lucky i have so many fantastic friends in my life that are very supportive of any of the stupid things I do, including some that come along for the ride (apparently its hard to say no to me, or at least that`s what some friends tell me!)

Next race, UBC Tri-Du! No where near ready for it, but, its a month away, I`m sure I`ll be fine!
